Lionel Rose was a Australian bantamweight boxer. The first indigenous Australian to win a world title. He then became the first Indigenous Australian to be named Australian of the year. Although he was not the first aboriginal to win a world title but he was the first boxer to win one. Rose won the Bantamweight title in 1968 against Harada from Japan which made him famous through out Australia.
